Mobility Seating Upgrade for Higher
Productivity
|
|
Mobility Seating is a leading manufacturer
of technical upholstery, mainly for the mobility industry
but expanding rapidly into the leisure and salon furniture
markets. They have recently won a prestigious Business
Excellence Through People Award thanks to their investment
in staff training and development. |

Mobility Seating’s relationship with Pacer began over 5
years ago when they purchased their first CNC router - a
Pacer 600 Cadet. Managing Director, Alan Holloway confirmed,
“this was an ideal ‘starter’ machine but we quickly outgrew
the Cadet and needed something bigger and faster”. They
traded up to a 1250HD machine back in 2001 and since then
have grown to depend on it for producing the wooden
component parts of their furniture.
Having grown the
company to more than 30 employees and built a strong and
international customer base, Alan realised that he would
need to upgrade his routing facilities again. Earlier this
year he exchanged the 1250HD for a bigger 2512HDS machine.

Alan said “We’d been delighted with Pacer’s products and
their service - when we saw their new HDS and how fast it
would process our components it was just a natural
progression to upgrade. We now have the capacity to keep up
with existing contracts and also to seek out new ones. This
machine has helped us to secure a major new contract in
Beijing against stiff competition. The excellent support and
training that we received from Pacer certainly helped us to
win the Business Excellence Award”

Another advantage of upgrading to the faster
HDS machine is that they no longer need to stock any items
and can use a ‘just in time’ approach to manufacturing. The
new HDS more than copes with current demand and will do so
for the foreseeable future.
Space is a major issue for Alan and he has recently managed
to gain extra valuable floorspace by removing most of their
hand cutting equipment which was originally required to cope
with production. |
