It wasn't long
before Eastbourne based Richard Hay saw a potential opening
in the market. “A local company offering a fast and
efficient turn around on CNC machined parts was sought after
in my area. My aim was to set up a company to meet this
demand” explained Richard.
After taking time
out to recover from a major accident, Richard Hay took the
decision to start life in a new direction. He is a skilled
machine operator and has used a variety of CNC machines
over a number of years in his previous employment. |

It was decided that he would start his
own business offering a CNC cutting service. To do this
Richard needed a machine. After careful consideration of a
number of machines, he eventually whittled it down to a
select few.
“ A number of factors came into the
final decision”
Richard explains “Support was at
the top of the list as there is no point in buying machine
if I cannot get help when you need it. I really liked the
built in Britain feel to the Pacer range. I felt comfortable
knowing that there is a person at the end of the phone in
this country, with parts being off the shelf if required.
The remote dial in feature is also nice touch and my
confidence in the Pacer range grew ”

Software was another area of concern. “Previous
machines which I have used have been difficult and awkward
to program. The Pacer XMC-E has to be one of the easiest yet
most powerful program to use. It’s fully integrated into the
machine and flows exactly in the way you would expect with
the machine.”
“ What really
swung it for Pacer was the speed and accuracy of the
machine. It was much faster than ones I had previously used.
The ball screw technology was the reassurance that I will
achieve the tolerances I wanted to offer my customers.
After a demonstration at Pacer in Nottingham I was convinced
that Pacer was the way to go”.
An order was placed
soon after the demonstration and after a short build time,
Richard took delivery of his new 3020HDS with fully
automatic tool change in October 2006.
Since then Richard
hasn't look back, taking on a variety of work and contracts
“The machine has opened so many new opportunities to
me. I am taking on work now with the confidence that the
machine and I can complete the task with ease”
Richard has recently completed various signage projects for
a local shop fitting company, some of which can be seen at

Another success story from Pacer.
